Steege's Lisa in foal for 2010!
posted on Jul 29, 2009

Our beautiful shire mare, Steege's Lisa, has been confirmed in foal for 2010! The sire to the Drum foal is our fabulous Gypsy Vanner stallion, Rosewater Cassidy (Sid).

Lisa is being trained in intro/basics of dressage and doing very well, with outstanding forward movement and a floaty trot! This gorgeous girl has an uphill build and more hair and feather than any shire I've ever seen! That combined with her beautiful coloring and great temperament gives her tremendous presence.

Her May 2010 Drum foal will be of impeccable quality and is being offered for sale in-utero at $8,999.00. Price will increase once foal hits the ground. Do inquire if you are interested in purchasing this top quality Drum foal.

Children Learn About Shires & Drum Horses at Horse Camp!
posted on Jun 22, 2009

On Thursday June 11, 2009, the children participating in Dream Big Horse Camp at Just a Small Town Ranch, Middleburg, PA, had a hands-on learning experience with Shires and Drum Horses.

Chestnut Oak Farm's Shire mare, Steege's Beth and her weanling Drum Horse colt, The Exhibitionist (Moon), soaked up the attention they received and were great ambassador's for the breeds, both standing quietly while the children pet them and gave them treats.

Wendy Rager of Chestnut Oak Farm answered the many questions the children had about the breeds, while Dream Big instructor Amy Good of Middleburg, gave the children rides on Lily, a big black Shire mare that resides at Just a Small Town Ranch.

Riding a "draft" horse as well as learning about the wonderful Shire & Drum Horse breeds was a great experience for the kids, and the horses certainly enjoyed themselves as well!

posted on Jun 15, 2009

Our first ever Drum Horse FILLY made an early appearance arriving nine days ahead of schedule on June 8, 2009 at 3:00am, out of Steege's Zena (Shire) and by GSF Keebler (Gypsy), son of the famous Gypsy Horse, The Bishop who resides in Germany!

Named "Queen's Cadence" (Cady), this lovely girl is a full sibling to our 2008 Drum Horse colt, "Rhythmic March", who now resides in Colorado. She is beautifully marked black and white tobiano, and quite unique in having "Magic Ears", with one ear white, and one ear black!

Cady has a very upright carriage with a short back, long legs, and super fancy movement! This girl loves to show off! Extremely friendly, she loves people and children. She should mature close to 17hh and is of superb quality, certain to be an asset to the Drum Horse breed!

We are proudly offering "QUEEN'S CADENCE" for sale to a wonderful home, do inquire for additional information and photos of this special filly!

We're proud to announce that our Gypsy stallion, Rosewater Cassidy "Sid" was chosen by equine artist, Karen Brenner, of Ohio, to be included in the "Beautiful Horses of Pennsylvania Project!" Karen choses a different state each year and asks horse owners to nominate their horses for the painting project. She will be traveling throughout the state of Pennsylvania during June 2009 photographing horses. Out of the 93 horses that were nominated, just 35 were selected to be included in her project. She will be traveling to our farm on Sunday June 21 at 2:00 to photograph our Gypsy stallion, Sid, and will then create a beautiful painting of our special boy!

Karen's "Beautiful Horses of Pennsylvania Paintings" will be displayed at Horse Expo's and shows throughout the U.S. Be sure to check back for updates about Karen's June 21'st photo shoot of our "Super Sid!"
