Children Learn About Shires & Drum Horses at Horse Camp!
posted on Jun 22, 2009On Thursday June 11, 2009, the children participating in Dream Big Horse Camp at Just a Small Town Ranch, Middleburg, PA, had a hands-on learning experience with Shires and Drum Horses.
Chestnut Oak Farm's Shire mare, Steege's Beth and her weanling Drum Horse colt, The Exhibitionist (Moon), soaked up the attention they received and were great ambassador's for the breeds, both standing quietly while the children pet them and gave them treats.
Wendy Rager of Chestnut Oak Farm answered the many questions the children had about the breeds, while Dream Big instructor Amy Good of Middleburg, gave the children rides on Lily, a big black Shire mare that resides at Just a Small Town Ranch.
Riding a "draft" horse as well as learning about the wonderful Shire & Drum Horse breeds was a great experience for the kids, and the horses certainly enjoyed themselves as well!
